Kelvirox exists because gaming skill has rarely been evaluated with the same rigour as other performance domains. We set out to change that — without the exaggeration.
Kelvirox started with a fairly simple observation: most gaming performance discussions — whether on forums, in coaching contexts, or within competitive communities — tend to rely on anecdote, opinion, and a fairly narrow set of observed outcomes like rank and win rate.
Two of our founding team members had backgrounds in applied cognitive science, and they'd spent several years studying attention, decision-making, and motor control in non-gaming contexts. When they started applying the same frameworks to gaming behaviour, the gaps became obvious.
There was no widely accessible, transparent, methodologically sound tool for evaluating gaming skills in a neutral, structured way. Everything either oversold its capabilities, or was so research-constrained as to be inaccessible to general users.
Kelvirox was built to occupy the space in between: rigorous enough to mean something, simple enough to actually use.
Every scoring formula, benchmark source, and methodology note is documented and available. We don't use black-box scoring systems, and we explain our reasoning in plain language.
We have no commercial relationship with any game publishers, esports organisations, hardware brands, or tournament providers. Our content and assessments are developed independently.
Our test designs draw on published literature in cognitive psychology, motor science, and decision research. Where we go beyond the evidence base, we say so clearly.
We do not claim our assessments will make you a better player, improve your rank, or unlock any competitive advantage. These tools are for understanding, not transformation.
User data is anonymised before inclusion in any benchmark aggregation. We are transparent about what we collect, why we collect it, and who has access to it. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Our assessments are designed for casual players and competitive enthusiasts alike. We don't assume gaming history or hardware setup. Everyone starts from the same point.
Kelvirox has evolved gradually, shaped by user feedback and ongoing refinement of our test methodology. This timeline reflects the major milestones in that development.
Tom and Yasmine began reviewing academic literature on gaming cognition and reaction testing. The initial scope was limited to reaction speed and precision, with no public platform at this stage.
A working prototype of the reaction and precision modules was developed and tested internally. Samir joined to build the data normalisation framework. First external feedback session held with a small group of volunteer participants.
The strategic thinking and team coordination assessments were designed and integrated. Lena joined to lead UX redesign following feedback that early versions were cognitively demanding in ways unrelated to what was being tested.
Kelvirox became publicly accessible. Owen joined to manage community communications. The Performance Insight Report was introduced as a synthesis layer across all completed assessments.
Continuous iteration on test design based on user feedback and emerging research. Benchmark datasets expanded. Extended documentation published to improve methodological transparency.
